Over the decades the wines of Castillo Perelada have been served on the tables of many historical figures, having had the honour of being selected for banquets of great importance such as the coronation of King Juan Carlos I, the weddings of King Balduino and Queen Fabiola of Belgium and the Prince and Princess of Asturias, and for official visits from United States presidents. Our Homage Wines pay tribute to some of these important figures, to our founder Miguel Mateu and to one of the most the Empordà’s most illustrious sons, Salvador Dalí.

Special Selection Balduino y Fabiola 2017

December 15th 1960. After one year of nearly secret engagement, Baudouin of Belgium surprised Europe marrying the Spanish Fabiola de Mora y Aragón. A Perelada Gran Reserva was chosen for this wedding. To commemorate these monarchs of international prestige, we still make the Balduino & Fabiola wine, using the same label that was used in 1960.

Designation of origin: Empordà
Varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon (32%), Garnacha negra (27%), Merlot (22%), Samsó (14%), Syrah (3%), Monastrell (2%).
Ageing: 16 months in Bordeaux barrels, 50% French Allier oak and 50% in fine American oak. The rest in bottle.
Tasting note: Dark deep ruby red. Rich aroma with hints of red fruits, balsamic notes and a roasted background. The palate is vibrant and round, well-structured and balanced. The tannins are present but very well integrated, and the acidity provides it with a good aging capacity.

Gran Reserva Don Miguel Mateu 2015

Miguel Mateu was a unique person. He was active in many spheres of business, cultural and even political life, but it is in the cultural sphere that his legacy is most keenly felt. He was a unique character whose sensibility is still felt in Perelada. This is why we proudly pay tribute to our founder with this Gran Reserva that bears his name.

Torre Galatea 2018

Salvador Dalí and Miguel Mateu, businessman, sponsor of culture and founder of the Perelada winery, held a close friendship throughout their lives. The universal Catalan painter was a regular guest at the castle that his friend had bought in 1923. He painted and made some speeches there. Perelada and the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation wants to pay tribute to Dalí with this Torre Galatea Reserva. A wine that summarizes the Empodà essence, a reflection of its soils and its climate. An environment where the artist lived for most of his life and which was an inspiration for many of his master works. Part of the benefits obtained from the sale of this wine go to the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation.
